The original purpose of St Anne's Hall was to provide three distinct functions: a dispensary, a soup kitchen and a working men's club. Today, it is the home of the Clapham Community Project whose mission is to provide access for the whole community, empowering and enhancing Quality of Life.
Potter + Holmes were commissioned to extensively reinvigorate and unite the building by:
- Maximising community use of the whole building
- Access for all
- New level access from the street
- New lift access to all floors
- Accessibility within the building to all areas
New reception and office area to control the whole building
Remodelling the internal layouts to create multi functional spaces for community use
Cloakrooms, storage and tea making facilities accessible to all areas
Through extensive community consultation, including an exhibition set up for the local community to have their say, Potter + Holmes have proposed a layout which is logical, simplified and provides clarity while allowing greater flexibility; out of hours community use of the Main Hall and Basement Meeting Rooms is possible without giving access to the whole building. The level entry, lift enclosure and rear extension are inserted with minimal disturbance to the existing street elevations.
Clapham Community Project is currently seeking funding for the building's exciting plans.
